I will be writing a reporting comparing the roles of different team members, stating the job roles of
different team members and relating the team members to Belbin’s team roles.

The manager in ASDA on the shop floor will have many responsibilities as they will have to manage
the whole of the shop floor; they will need to deal with everything going on, on the shop floor and
make sure everything is running correctly such as staff doing their job correctly, they will also have to
focus on recruiting staff and interviewing them when needed and finalising the situation and making
sure the potential staff is right to work in ASDA. The manager will also need to supervise the stock
control and the pricing of the products to ensure it is done correctly and they need to attend
meetings concerning the business and arrange training for the employees. A sales assistant worker in
ASDA on the shop floor will have to mainly make sales to customers however they will have other
duties to do such as processing refunds, Dealing with customers issue and making sure their issue is
sorted, stock the shelves with products, advising customers on the products they have questions on
and helping customers find products they are looking for. A supervisor in ASDA working on the shop
floor would supervise the shop floor and make sure employees are doing their work correctly and
also ensure customers are satisfied and they can use the opportunity to take notes on the
satisfactions of customers that have shopped. Also a supervisor may have to manage a team in ASDA
and give the team members work to do, do the rotas and observe the team performance. Customer
Service staff in ASDA on the shop floor have a main responsibility of making sure customers problems
are sorted and they are satisfied; Customer service staff also have duties such as dealing with
customers face to face or by the telephone and they record details or what actions they’ve taken to
help the customers. A cleaner in ASDA working on the shop floor must ensure the shop floor is clean
constantly and it is safe for customers and staff to walk around. They must make sure they abide by
the health and safety regulations. Also cleaners will need to stock the toilets with tissue and soap
which the public and staff can use. Security staff in ASDA on the shop floor is responsible for the
safety of everybody in store and they need to protect the stores merchandise; they also need to
check CCTV, walk around the store ensuring everything is ok, monitor customers entering and leaving
the premises of ASDA and write reports on what has taken place daily such as theft and damage.

The manager of ASDA and Sales assistant are different because in ASDA it’s the manager’s
responsibility to give instructions and the sales assistant must follow the instructions given and also
the manager will not have to stock shelves however the sales assistant will because that is part of
their duties. Also the manager has more authority than the sales assistant because the manager can
tell the sales assistant to work on the till but the sales assistant does not have the right to do so. In
relation to Belbin’s team roles the manager is the chair and shaper; The chair makes sure everything
offered to staff to achieve goals are used efficiently and the shaper sets tasks and ensures the tasks
are completed and the sales assistant are not the chair or the shaper; The sales assistant is a
company worker which is a person that is interested in doing their task. The similarities of both the
manager and sales assistant is that they are both “The plant” because they both can be creative with
ideas and both the manager and sales assistant can be “The team worker” which is a caring person
that keeps the team together.

The supervisor of ASDA and Cleaner are different because the supervisor will set objectives and it is
the cleaners job to ensure that the complete the objectives and task given and the supervisor will
need to check on staff and ensure they are doing their job correctly however the cleaner will not
have to do that as that is not their job. The supervisor has more authority than the cleaner because
the supervisor can give the cleaner tasks to do however the cleaner can do that because they do not
have the ability to do so because it is not their duty. The supervisor is a shaper which is a person
which sets tasks and ensures the tasks are completed, they are also the finisher which means they
maintain work rate of the staff and they assess progress which is what a monitor-evaluator does. The
cleaner is company worker which is a person that is interested in doing their task. The similarities of
