In this assignment I will be comparing the effectiveness of the two different teams in the apprentice
episode; the teams were the men’s team and women’s team.
There was a women’s team which was called “First Forte” and the men’s team which was called
“Impact”. The teams had goals to achieve such as selling flowers, make a profit and work together. The
men’s teams worked together to achieve the specific goals by communicating with each other which
allow everyone to know what’s going on , respecting each other although there was one situation where
there could have been a serious argument, avoid conflict where there could have been conflict,
tolerating each other in order for there to be no arguments so they can focus on achieving the goal,
contributing ideas of different ways to sell the flowers and participating in selling the flowers so they can
make a profit and win, the project manager was listening and allowing people to contribute ideas and
this allowed them to win because they thought of a way to sell the flowers easily and quickly, quick good
decisions for example when they all decided and agreed to do door to door selling. The women’s teams
was quick when trying to buy the flowers to sell , the project manager was motivating the team to sell
and she was trying to solve conflict so it does not affect the selling ,shared tasks and contributing ideas.
The women’s team leader was an autocratic leader because she was giving her team members strict
instructions and expecting it to be carried out. The team leader was really controlling and she was also
shouting and her team members did not like it as they were a few conflicts. She also was interested in
the ideas of other people. The team leader for the men’s team was a democratic leader because he did
not tell people in the team what to do, he listened to ideas and everyone knew what they needed to do
and they just go on with it and he was ready to listen to the ideas of other people and he makes sure
everyone agrees on the final decision.
The men’s team was effective because they had good communication at all times and everyone in the
team knew what was going on , they made quick decisions and there was no time wasting and they were
determined to sell all the flowers, they tolerated each other in order to avoid conflict, solved issues on
the spot where there could have been an further argument, they shared ideas on different ways to sell
the flowers , the team leader listened to everyone and allowed everyone’s idea and opinion to matter
and the team leader was good as he listened to everyone and was calm, motivated each other,
supported each other, made a profit and listened to each other. The women’s team was quick when
trying to sell flowers, the project manager was motivating the team to sell the flowers quickly, sharing
the tasks of buying the flowers and contributing the ideas. If the teams are ineffective there will be
conflict, they will lose, no progress, lack of cohesion, no tasks being completed, no communication which
means there will be confusion as to what is going on, not organised which shows they are not
professional, team members may not attend meetings as they may not see a point to which means there
will be no punctuality and goals will not be achieved. If a team is effective tasks will be completed,
achieving their goal which shows the group can work together and solve any problems, there will be
progress and if there are any arguments they know how to solve it and continue with what they need to
do, team members will be motivated to do well if they see everyone else participating, confidence will
grow in the team members because it shows they can work with other people and achieve any goal they
come across and also another impact is that more opinions and ideas will be contributed and that can be
used to achieve the goal quicker. The impact of an ineffective team is that they will not achieve the goal,
