It also supports higher mental functions such as thought and emotion. It lets a person be aware of and react to the environment and keep the rest of the body's systems working together central nervous system - located in the brain and in the spinal cord. Its components are the body's mainframe computer. This is where all communication and control originate peripheral nervous system - includes the nerves that connect to the spinal cord and branch out to every other part of the body.
