Manual handling is the lifting , carrying, pushing or pulling of an object or person that causes an individual's body to exert a force that it is not capable of. It often causes major musculoskeletal injuries including back and neck problems. What are the 3 types of hazards that you might encounter in the sport, fitness and recreation industry? Slippery surfaces, Environmental conditions, Manual tasks, Biological. Identify three ways you could minimise the use of unsafe equipment. Check all equipment before and after use. All faults in the equipment shall be dealt with professionally with no 'DIY' methods. Have professionals available to ensure all participants are familiar with equipment. How could you deal with a violent situation between competitors? Need to contain , manage and defuse violent outbursts. heir achy of control and its three levels Level 1 controls Elimination Level 2 controls Substitution Isolation Engineering controls Level 3 controls Administrative Controls PPE Briefly explain how the productivity of an organisation is affected by an emergency. If employees recognise emergencies it will allow for them to respond the most productive way. If everyone works productively against the emergency then they can reduce the harm caused. What information should be included as part of a workplace emergency management action plan? the immediate action to stop of minimise the hazard. Who to call to raise the alarm. How to notify emergency personnel. How, when and where to evacuate. Names of the people responsible for making decisions during the emergency and their duties. How to establish and use a fail - safe communication system. Why is it important that facilities are shut down after a natural disaster? Facilities should be closed until they are cleaned up and all equipment has been checked to be in working order and the facility itself has undergone a complete safety inspection, this is important to ensure no further injuries. Why is it important to following organisational procedures when responding to an emergency? This is important as if all of the staff work productively against the emergency then the effects following the event can be minimised. the procedures will allow for staff to remain calm and understand what is going on. How would you dispose of each of these types of waste safely? as quickly as possible wearing appropriate PPE and place them in the appropriate waste bin. The site of the spill should be clearly identified What is a biological hazard bio - can ? A puncture resistant container. What should be worn at all times when handling waste? Why? PPE give an example of an unsafe work practise Leaving weights around, not wearing gloves.
