Hate Crime Paragraph-
Hate crime is a type of individual crime. Hate crime is a crime that
typically involves violence that is motivated by prejudice based on
ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or similar grounds. Types of hate
crime are physical assault, verbal abuse or incitement of hate (when
somebody acts in a way that is threatening and intended to stir up hate).
The typical types of offenders of hate crimes are prejudice people or
people with old views. These offenders can come in lots of different forms
such as thrill seekers, defensive people, retaliatory people or mission
offenders. Thrill seekers are often immature and itch for excitement and
drama and they often think that society doesn’t care about their victims.
Defensive people are people who say they are defending their
neighbourhoods, workplaces, religions or country. Often triggered by a
particular event such as a black person moving onto their street. They
show no remorse and think they are getting rid of threats and helping the
others around them. Retaliatory people are people who think what they
are doing is taking revenge. They target members of the racial, ethnic or
religious group who they believe committed the original crime. Mission
offenders are the deadliest and rarest. They believe that their mission is
to get rid of people from a rival religion or race. They are often seen as
acts or terrorism. The typical types of victims of hate crimes are religious
people, like Muslims, people from certain races such as black people and
people who are part of the LGBTQ such as gay people. The level of public
awareness of hate crime is relatively high as it is often seen in the news
and is spread a lot through social media. A real-life example of hate
crime is the case of Matthew Shepard. He was a gay student who was
brutally tortured and murdered by Russell Henderson and Aaron
McKinney. Hate crime is both criminal and deviant criminal because they
are all under the protected classes and it is deviant because most people
don’t discriminate.
