Internet of Things
According to Bowersox, DJ, Closs, DJ, Cooper, MB & Bowersox, JC.
(2020:21), The IoT offers opportunities throughout the supply chain to monitor
production equipment, transportation equipment, demand, and inventory level
without requiring labor time and expertise. DHL is making use of Internet of
things to monitor and track inventory and equipment. It is used to connect
devices and gives them access to data in real time which speed up activities
at DHL. Activities can be replayed using IOT
Visualization tool
Helps them understand information and put information into contacts. The
video mentions how they innovate so that they can serve their customers
better, better safety and overally have better operations.
Material Handling Systems
At DHL, they are using Material Handling Systems to manage and and
monitor warehouse operations. This allows real-time tracking of inventory,
which will allow them effective management of inventory, and optimizes
storage space utilization.
Heat Maps
Shows areas where there is high concentration of individuals. They are also
used to check if the floors are ok. It’s used for Aggregate positioning of
individuals.
