Hoofdstuk 1
Algemene aspecten en Nederlands recht

Geschiedenis van transportverzekering:
Primitieve vormen: Foenus nauticum (geldlening). Deze
is identiek aan de Bodemerij. Tot de 14e eeuw.
Oudste verzekeringsovereenkomst: In Genua in 1318
(koopcontract / geldlening)
1370 Brugge: premieverzekering. In Holland pas veel
later. Dit kwam door de ontwikkeling en verplaatsing
van de wereldhandel. In de loop van de 16e eeuw werd
Holland erbij betrokken.
17 eeuw: Amsterdam werd van Noord-Europa de
assurantiemarkt bij uitstek
18e eeuw: Kooplieden met veel vermogen gingen
beleggen. Amsterdam en Rotterdam belangrijke
assurantiemarkten.
19e eeuw: Nederland werd door de Fransen bezet in
1795: vernietiging assurantiemarkten.
Door koning Willem I zeehandel weer tot bloei. Ook
tansportverzekeringsbedrijf. In Nederland werden
een groot aantal verzekeraars opgericht. Ook
agenturen van buitenlandse verzekeraars vestigden
zich in Nederland.
