P4
You must describe the effectiveness of support roles in a selected organisation. Describe how
the effectiveness of support roles can be judged using a review process:

Regent

Receptionists are very effective when giving support to Regent College because they are able
to organise events and create appointments for meetings or interviews. This is very effective to
help support the organisation because it allows the college to be seen very organised and
prepared for any meetings or interviews to people outside the business, which can be helpful
towards Ofsted inspectors as they review the college by their facilities and how well they are
performing which is sent to the city council. The effectiveness of the support can be judged by a
periodic review of progress, this is a review which happens on a certain day every week, month
or year to see how well the receptionist is performing based on the amount of work produced
and the support given. This will be showed to the employee by feedback which will include an
evaluation of the amount of work being given and their actions being monitored. If the feedback
includes a positive evaluation then the receptionist can continue with the work they are doing,
but if it comes out to be negative they might be given new objectives that they must follow to
ensure the survival of the company and their job.
IT Technicians are very important to the college as their support helps keep the college’s
systems and their information safe from outside hackers. This is very important to the college
because they need to make sure that personal information within the college’s system is kept
safe so that students and staff who go to the college are able to feel secure when typing
personal information on the internet. Also, the IT technicians make sure that certain websites
are blocked so that there are no viruses or malware on the computer, this can lead to important
work being lost which can take a huge effect on the organisation. To judge the effectiveness of
their support they will need to go through the review process of having their work reviewed by
regular check ups to see how well they are performing and they are keeping up with objectives
and tasks.
Caterers help support the college by serving food to both teachers and student, this provides
finance to the college as people would by the food they want to eat and may be use the vending
machines as well. As there is a big population of the amount of students, the college will make
huge sums of profit every day which can be used to help the college run. The caterers provides
support to people who visit the canteen with fresh food and information about the prices and
ingredients used for allergy or religious purposes. To judge the effectiveness of the support
being given by them they will need to have a periodic review of progress to see how well or bad
the effectiveness of the support is. Having feedback on the progress being made is important to
both the employee and the business because the caterers will know where they are weak in
when giving support so they can work on making improvements to help support the business
more effectively. In evaluation they can see the outcomes of their support and its effectiveness
towards the business, it can be shown by how much work they have put in or how much effort
they have put in when doing their work which would be monitored.
