According to the ecological footprint calculator provided above my results is as followed : • My Ecological footprint is 3.7 gha/global hectares • My Carbon footprint is 6 tonnes (CO2 emission tonnes per year) That gives me a total ecological footprint of 56% . If everyone lived a similar lifestyle than me, we would need 2.3 earths! Let me repeat that again, 2.3 EARTHS !! Step 2: Write a comment about your footprint PTA 1. You need to say something about your footprint based on what you have just read in the "Sustainability?" section. How do you feel about this? Looking back at the Sustainability section in SUS1501 and going through the study material it frightens me that my ecological footprint is above the 1.8 ha per capita. Sustainability define through the university of McGill is “ meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. This means that I am using more than my share and that I’m “compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. My ecological footprint is 3.7 ha. Which I am shocked as I had always thought that I live a pretty sustainable life. In order for me to truly live a sustainable life and not compromise those of thefuture generation I will need to adjust my lifestyle so that my ecological footprint isbelow the 1.8 ha per capita. I am frightened knowing how my lifestyle choices have contributed to the unsustainability problem, and I am even more worried about the amount of peoplethat don’t pay attention to their lifestyles choices and that are not educated on what a negative impact it has on the earth and on the life of future generations.
