Definitie:
 Sepsis is een levensbedriegende complicatie van een infectie
 Bacterien circuleren in de bloedbaan

Shock:
 gevolg van een sepsis
 Septische shock: sepsis+cardiovasculair falen (hypotensie, orgaanfalen)
 Toxische shock syndroom (TTS) = specifiek sepsis syndroom door exotoxinen

Tekenen van shock
 Tachycardie, tachypneu
 Koude handen en voeten
 Huidskleur (bleek, gemarmerd)
 Verlengde capillaire refill borstbeen
 Oligurie
 Verlaagd bewustzijn, milde agitatie
 Metabole acidose
 Hypotensie (laat teken)

Normaal waarden
Volwassenen Neonaat
 AH: <20 30-60/min
 HF <90/min 110-150/min
 Temp 36-38 36,5-37,5
 Tensie 111-129 (syst) capillaire refill <3

Normale neonaat:
 Ah: snel en oppervlakkig
 Kleur: grauw, blauw of bleek (masker)
 Tonus: slap, overstrekken
 Alert: kreunen, prikkelbaar, suf
 Drinken: niet of spugen
 Urineren: weinig / niet
 Temperatuur: koorts of ondertemperatuur (temp van 35 ook teken van
infectie/sepsis!)

Behandeling sepsis:
 Opsporen infectiebron
 Venapunctie, bloedkweken, urinekweek, vaginakweek
 Start ab eerst breedspectrum, daarnaast specifiek. Altijd IV.
