IELTS Writing Task 2 and specifically the problem-solution essay.
The problem-solution essay follows a similar structure to other essays, but there are some
differences that we will explore today. Our goal is to aim for an IELTS 9 or as close to it as
possible. This essay we will be learning to write is an example of an IELTS 9 essay, as it
includes everything that examiners look for in your writing. There are four key things that
examiners look for, which I will explain later in this presentation.
Question Prompt
Before we delve into the essay structure, let's first consider the question prompt. On test
day, you will see the question prompt in front of you on the test paper. For the problem-
solution essay, the prompt will have a general statement and two parts. The first part asks
about the causes of a given problem, and the second part asks for possible solutions. It is
important to note that the prompt uses plural forms for both causes and solutions.
