How future changes in Economic, Political, Legal and Social factors will impact on
the strategy of Apple Inc.
Changes in Economic, Political, Legal and Social factors can happen swiftly, and these can all
have an impact on the strategic developments of Apple Inc. Within this report, I will explain
how these four factors can impact my chosen business, and give examples of future changes
that can occur, these will either positively or negatively affect Apple Inc.
Economic factors
The changes in economy will affect businesses either positively or negatively, and this is
because the British economy will either get better or worse. The 2008 recession had an
impact on the way in which the British public spends their money, for example, the majority
of people would think carefully about purchasing an expensive product, such as an iPhone.
This would have decreased Apple Inc.’s profit after 2008 as more products would have sold
in the years before the recession, compared to now.
Political factors
The biggest political factor that will impact Apple Inc. in the future is paying tax, this is
because Apple Inc. wants to pay as little tax as possible in order to save their money to
spend on more important things, such as developing the newest iPhone model. Tax is a
problem for Apple Inc. because the prices will increase over the years, meaning that Apple
Inc. would have to pay more money than they currently do, which will decrease their profit
in the long-run. Also, the business may be viewed negatively for wanting to pay as little tax
as possible, because the British public may not want to contribute their money towards a
business that does not pay enough tax.
Legal factors
Pieces of legislation can change and improve quickly, meaning that Apple Inc. will need to
keep up to date with the alterations, the Health and Safety at Work Act being the most
important legislation. This legislation ensures that employees and customers are safe within
all workplaces.
The Health and Safety at Work Act states that all businesses must:
Assess risks to employees, customers, partners and any other people who could be
affected by their activities,
Arrange for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of
preventive and protective measures,
Have a written health and safety policy if they employ five or more people,
Ensure they have access to competent health and safety advice,
Consult employees about their risks at work and current preventive and protective
measures.
Apple Inc. have to ensure that they are following all of these rules, and any more that may
be put in place over the years. If the business fail to follow the legislation, they are put at
