Nature

Disengagement theory suggests that people will subconsciously withdraw from society. In
relation to nature this shows that people don't have a choice about whether or not that they
withdraw from society

Nurture

Disengagement theory also suggests that people will consciously theory withdraw from
society as they do not want as many people to be as upset when they die.

Genetic pre-programming

Nature

This theory suggests that we are who we are because of genetics and that how long we live
is all dependent on the segments of DNA at the end of the chromosomes, called telomeres,
determine the maximum lifespan of a cell.

Nurture

This theory is not related to nuture.

Wear and Tear

Nature

This theory suggests that the human race will all be going to go through this process and
that people are predisposed to some illness which would affect the rate of ageing.

This theory suggests that people will age due to their environment. This is shown as many
different things will affect how fast the elderly process is.
