The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) adopted Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies, which guides NP’s to develop an effective, safe, independent, and interprofessional practice. Upon graduation, NP’s can apply these core competencies to have a successful professional practice. Expanding our role as NP’s, we prepare ourselves to have a leadership role with our colleagues and patients. To master a leadership role, we must develop individual leadership skills to ensure that we are accomplishing our goals as leaders. All these different areas will help us establish a professional plan into our advanced practice nursing career and give us a depth look at our professional path. APN Scope of Practice Each state has its interpretation of a Nurse Practitioner role, and they adapt their guidelines and regulations. I will be practicing in the State of Florida upon the completion of my Nurse Practitioner degree; for this reason, I have analyzed their scope of practice for NPs.
