Klinisch scenario

Borderline persoonlijkheidsstoornis (BPS) wordt vaak gekenmerkt door bijvoorbeeld
stemmingswisselingen, verlatingsangst, dissociatieve verschijnselen en impulsiviteit. Bij een groot
gedeelte van deze mensen is er een co morbiditeit met andere stoornissen zoals ADHD, post
traumatische stress stoornis (PTSS), depressieve stoornis en angststoornis (Franken et al., 2015)¹.

Bij ongeveer 30-70% van deze mensen sprake van een post traumatische stress stoornis (VGCT
Kennisnet, 2023)⁵. Om de symptomen van deze stoornis te reduceren worden verschillende
therapieën ingezet, waaronder eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Deze
therapie wordt echter niet altijd gebruikt. Het is van belang te ontdekken wat de invloed is van
EMDR bij het reduceren van de PTSS symptomen, zodat dit de kwaliteit van zorg waarborgt.
