Method
 DNA extracted from a sample
 Endonucleases cut DNA into smaller fragments
 Fragments are loaded into wells in an agarose gel covered in a buffer solution
 A charge is passed through the gel
 DNA is negatively charged so is drawn towards the positive charge
 Larger fragments are heavier so move more slowly
 Form invisible bands which are revealed by radioactive or fluorescent probes which
attach to the modified bases
 Bands are read and analysed by a computer
