Nursing homes are common in the United States. They are mainly designed for the older
adults in the society. They offer alternative residence for the older adults that need care in
addition to assistance and are not able to live in their own homes. It is important to note that the
elderly population is in need of very high level of care coordination. These homes are both
homes and healthcare organizations or institutions. It is worth noting that the healthcare
professionals working in the nursing homes have been under very high pressure to offer quality
care to the patients or residents in the nursing homes (André et al., 2021). This means that
coordination of care is needed in these facilities. Coordination of care is the deliberate
organization of patient care actions and activities in addition to sharing of information among the
different individuals involved in patient care. The aim of care coordination is to ensure
efficacious and safe care is granted to the patients. However, there are any ethical and policy
factors that affect this presentation focuses on identifying the ethical and policy factors that
affect care coordination in the nursing homes.
How Government Policies affect Coordination of Care
Just like any other field, the healthcare field including the nursing field has regulations
that guide practice and activities. This is through policies and laws in addition to ethical
principles. These policies ensure that the providers or healthcare professionals conduct their
activities, roles and duties as per the regulations and thus, protecting the safety of patients and
improve their care and outcomes. This is in addition to saving on costs and resources among
others. Different government policies affect the coordination of care. The first policy that affects
