Interview Summary
An interview was conducted with the aim of discussing the different interdisciplinary
issues affecting the organization I work in. these issues have been noted to have a significant
impact on patient care and outcomes. The interviewee was a nurse manager in the organization.
She was in charge of the daily operations within the nursing departments and also involved in
supervising the nursing staff in the different departments. She works to ensure that both the
patients and staff are satisfied, the work environment is safe for the nursing staff, the patients and
their visitors and that the care standards set are maintained at all times among other
responsibilities. Therefore, she is in a very good position to help identify the interdisciplinary
issues within the organization. The interview was conducted one on one with the interviewee and
notes taken in order to document all the information gathered from the interviewee. Consent was
sought before the start of the interview and both closed and open-ended questions utilized during
the interview. It is also important to note that the interviewee was granted ample time to answer
the questions without any interruptions. Effective communication was identified as a key factor
to successful interview. Therefore, different communication strategies such as listening skills,
audibility and the use of non-verbal communication means were applied during the whole
interview process.
Issue Identification
The interviewee started by acknowledging the importance and significance of
interdisciplinary approach. This has a significant impact on patient care and outcomes (Dagala et
al., 2018). There are different issues identified during the interview. Some of the issues include
internal competitiveness or competition and hierarchies, communication and conflicts arising
from bullying. The main issue among the different identified issues that cause conflicts between
