Coasts
Coastal classification
- hi / low
- Emerging/ submerging
- Erosional / depositional
- Retreating / advancing
- meso tidal / macro tidal
Meso tidal
- the difference between how far the tide comes up is small
Macro tidal
- the tide come up the beach a lot ( big difference in high and low tide)
Psammosere
- is the sand due on the beach, created by deposition
-
, Marram grass on the yellow dune
Grey dunes contain soil from dead matter for plants to bind onto
Discordant coastline
A discordant coastline occurs where bands of different rock types run
perpendicular to the coast. The differing resistance to erosion leads to the
formation of headlands and bays.
Concordant coastline
A concordant coastline is where the same rock runs along the length of the
coast. Concordant coastlines tend to have fewer bays and headlands.
Lithology
- The makeup of the rocks. Their physical characteristics
Cliff profile
- how it looks when u cut it in half
A Spring tide results in a high, high tide from the pull of the moon A spring tide
occurs during or around the time of a full moon which its gravitational pull combines with the
suns because they in alignment make high high tides and low low tides, creating a high tidal
range. With a high high tide present water levels will be higher than normal.
Neap tide low low tide form the full of the moon
