Crime and
punishment
Good and evil intentions and actions:
- There is no law telling people to give to charity or people in need
- Being kind and compassionate is a natural human reaction, not
something that is ordered by law
- People who do good things intend to do them; it is not accidental
- Christians and Muslims believe adultery and abortion are wrong despite
not being illegal
- Actions encouraged by genuine religious faiths are good
- Evil actions may cause suffering, injury or death
- Not all evil actions come from evil intentions, sometimes a person may
be influenced in the situation they find themselves in
- In the UK, intentions of the criminal will often be taken into account
when deciding punishment
- Christians believe no one is evil and everyone makes mistakes. People
were created good and there is a reason they do wicked things such as
psychological illness
