In this assignment I’ll be analysing my own contribution to the selection process.
Planning is a crucial factor to undertake whenever something has to be done successfully. Before a
big step in doing something very big, there is always a preliminary sort of planning on the lists of
things to do or talk about. For example, if someone is going to say a public speech they will definitely
prepare beforehand by planning all the points to include in the speech. There are different types of
plans for different situations; ultimately they are a help resourceful tool to be considered t o use. In
this case, me and my group have undertaken an interview process and we all need to plan the
questions, answers, roles, day and time of the interview.
The planning that we all did individually was that we all prepared different documents which will be
used in the interview. The documents are letters for acceptance/rejection, scoring candidate card,
questions to ask candidates and the answers. All these documents were crucial for the interview as
they’re commonly used for majority of the interviews even for big organisation and interview
feedback. So we all did our own documents for the interview individually. Personally, I created
around 10 questions to ask the candidate and they’re relevant to the job criteria. I also prepared
answers for me to plan and go through when it’s my turn to answer the interview questions. I also
created letters for acceptance/rejection for the candidate whether they’re accepted or rejected;
furthermore I did a scoring card which rates the candidates in different departments such as
communication out of 5. Lastly I also created a feedback sheet which is a feedback to the candidate
on how well they did in the interview or what to improve on as this will benefit them for future
interviews. As a group we planned mini scenarios of the interviews as this will boost our confidence
when we’re doing the real interview, we went over the questions and answers and also the roles
that we’ll be doing.
The group handled the planning very well because we all had different stuff to do in the group and
we all worked as a team player as we all contributed to the success of the group. We each had a role
of creating the questions for the interview and delegating different roles of the team as we
experience it and become confident in doing the roles. This has led the planning to become very
easy and well played out as we all know what different actions to do in the real interview and how to
start out as we’ve also watched videos online about tips and examples of a good interview, we used
that as an example and interpreted into our own make.
The role play did go by the plan as we all managed to ask all the questions and we all participated
and gave back good response to the questions. However there was some flaws undertaken in the
interview such as there was a few giggles and jokes in the role play and there was also not that much
eye contact or seriousness in asking the questions. Apart from that the interview did continued to go
in the right path and we all manage to go through all the answers of the questions and it was good
apart from the flaws.
The things that went well in the interview are that we all participated in the role play and were
confident enough to answer the questions given. We all gave good knowledgeable answers and also
the history of the company which was good. However the things that did not go well are that we all
did giggle and jokes in the role play which deducted the professionalism of the overall interview,
furthermore we didn’t made that much eye contact with each other and lastly one of the members
(Hamid) was confused as he asked the same questions again.
