Verklaringen effecten massage
- Mechanisch
 warm worden huid, weefsels en uitgeoefende druk op huid/spieren → afvoer
lymfevocht en veneus bloed + vrijkomen mestcellen

- Psychologisch
 ontspanning

- Biochemisch
 acethylcholine en histamine komen vrij bij bijv. fricties, zorgt voor vasodilatatie.
Mastcellen, mastocyten of labrocyten

- Neuro-reflectoir
 sensoren nemen ‘prikkels’ waar, zorgen dat dit in de hersenen terecht komt, hier
wordt de prikkel bepaald en teruggegeven naar de afferenten perifeer, hierdoor kan
bijv. hypertonie verminderd worden (poort theorie)

- Neuro-hormonaal
 hormonen serotonine, endorfine, cortisol, noradrenaline, heparine met name
gerelateerd aan parasympatisch zenuwstelsel
