P4- Use marketing research for marketing planning
In this task, I will be using marketing research for marketing planning. The business that I will be
looking at is Apple and I will be finding out how Apple uses marketing research for their own
marketing planning.
Marketing planning is the process of developing and implementing a plan to identify consumer
demand to satisfy their consumers to be able to increase the amount of profit they make. The two
main elements of this plan are market research to identify and anticipate customer requirements
and the planning of an appropriate marketing mix to meet these requirements

SWOT Analysis:
SWOT analysis is what businesses use to be able to identify their internal strengths and weaknesses.
It can also be used to find out potential external opportunities and threats.
SWOT stands for:
Strengths
Weaknesses
Opportunities
Threats
Strengths:
With Apple, they have many strength as a business. One of their strengths is that all their products
are aimed at different people as they have products for everyone to buy and use. For example the
iPod is a small version of the iPhone and it has all the features of an iPhone except it doesn’t make
calls to other numbers so it’s mainly used for music and games which appeals to children. Also they
have the bigger version which is called the iPad. Another strength that Apple have is they have a
very strong reputation and all their products amaze the public and the public are most likely to go to
them when they would like to purchase a mobile phone or any other part of technology that Apple
have to offer because they have that trust with their customers and customers know that their
products always last long.
Weaknesses:
Although Apple has a good reputation, they also have weaknesses as a business themselves. One of
them is that some of their new services that they are offering are not compatible with some phones
which affects customers because then some customers aren’t getting what others are getting which
is unfair and may put some customers off. Also Apple don’t get many sales on their iPods because
they have released iPads which means that they are very dependent on iPhones and iPads because
this is where their money is coming from which means that they are just relying on two types of
products.
