1.1) The following factors determine the adequacy of lights in the correctional centre: the
tasks to be completed, the finishing and colours of interior surfaces, the type of spacing
of light sources, outside lighting, shadows, and glare. 1.2) correctional personnel

medicines must be provided to offenders, mothers' infants and young children using a

medicine or receive medicines in an unauthorized manner under any circumstances. In
the presence of a correctional official, nursing staff member, offenders, infants, and
young children must ingest tablets, capsules or any other kind of medication and
drinking water must be accessible. Any offender’s, infants and young child's medical
complaint may not be overlooked.
1.4) The functions of religious workers in correctional environment are as follows:
orientation of offenders on admission and before placement/release, reporting on board
offenders to the institutional committee, pastoral care in groups and individually, sick
calls, support during the dying hour and funerals of offenders, arranging for religious
aftercare for placed/released offenders, consulting with other disciplines, referring
offenders to experts in other disciplines for specific attention, and channelling offenders’
requests, investigating, in conjunction with social workers, the desirability of the marriage
of an offender, and conducting the marriage ceremony, providing offenders with bibles
and other religious books and spiritual literature.
