How can cloud technology be used in organisations?
Introduction:
I have recently joined the IT department of a medium size manufacturing company as an IT
support technician. The IT director is keen to investigate whether cloud technologies would
be of benefit for the company. I will be producing an analytical report for my supervisor
where I will be addressing cloud computing technology and services, as well as the various
types of cloud services that businesses use. Additionally, I'll explore their advantages and
compare service approaches, as well as the potential impact on companies.
How Cloud Computing is currently deployed in the
company and how it meets its aims and needs:
Cloud Computing:
Cloud computing is a term that refers to a system that maintains the availability of
computer resources over the internet without forcing the user to handle such resources on
their own. It is frequently used for online regular backups and storing. Computer system
resources include storage, Random Access Memory, the operating system, and application
software.
How it meets the aims and needs:
Cloud computing provides several advantages which helps the business to meet their aims
and needs. Cloud computing includes increased operating system compatibility which
enables users to access the cloud from any operating system, and higher storage capacity,
which enables users to store more files in the cloud. Another advantage of cloud computing
is that technology is capable of backing up or recovering data without requiring human
intervention, which implies that file systems will be retained automatically, reducing the
likelihood of data loss or corruption.
In comparison to on-premises IT, and depending on the cloud services the company choose,
cloud computing enables the company to accomplish the following:
Lower IT costs: Cloud computing enables businesses to offload some, or all of the
expenses and work associated with purchasing, installing, configuring, and operating
on-premises technology.
Improve agility and time-to-value: Instead of waiting weeks or months for IT to
reply to a request, acquire and setup necessary hardware, and install software, the
company can begin to use enterprise apps in minutes using clouds. Additionally,
cloud computing enables the company to empower certain users, most notably
developers and data scientists to self-serve programs and infrastructure required.
Scale more easily and cost-effectively: The cloud enables elasticity – rather than
acquiring overcapacity that sits idle during slow times, the company may scale
capacity up and down in response to traffic spikes and drops. The company may use
