prime numbers have only two factors, 1 and the number itself.


The prime numbers from 1 to 100 are: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29,
31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97. Why is 1 not a
prime number.




2. 3 LCM of 5, 9, and 15 is the smallest number among all common
multiples of 5, 9, and 15. The first few multiples of 5, 9, and 15 are (5,
10, 15, 20, 25 . . .), (9, 18, 27, 36, 45 . . .), and (15, 30, 45, 60, 75 . . .)
respectively. There are 3 commonly used methods to find LCM of 5, 9,
15 - by division method, by prime factorization, and by listing multiples.


Prime factorization of 5, 9, and 15 is (5) = 51, (3 × 3) = 32, and (3 × 5) =
31 × 51 respectively. LCM of 5, 9, and 15 can be obtained by
multiplying prime factors raised to their respective highest power, i.e.
32 × 51 = 45.
Hence, the LCM of 5, 9, and 15 by prime factorization is 45.
