N.B. use the same auxiliary verb as with the passé composé

mop the floor after doing the dishes.


Je rentre en France après avoir résidé en Europe. I am returning
to France after having lived in Europe.




Nous sommes allés nous coucher après avoir dit au revoir à Lisa. We went
to bed after having said goodbye to Lisa. (replace ‘à Lisa’ with an indirect
object pronoun = après lui avoir dite au revoir*)


Après avoir fini ma dissertation, je commencerai mes révisions. After
finishing my essay, I will start studying for my exam.


Après avoir quitté la soirée, Éric est rentré chez lui. After having left the
party, Éric went back home


La famille a été expulsée après avoir passé 11 semaines en détention.
