IDEIA(individuals with disabilities education improvement act) Federal law that governs the education of children with disabilities. Introduced in 1975, revised in 1997 and 2004. In 2004 it is now simply referred to as IDEA-individuals with disabilities education Act. Child Find States are required to identify and evaluate children who may have disabilities. students who have disabilities will be evaluated at no cost to the parent. Teacher or parent can request an evaluation, but must have parent consent. FAPE (free appropriate public education) Each child with a disability must be provided with an educational experience appropriate to their age at no cost.
