- Calcium Carbonate + Heat -> Calcium Oxide + Carbon Dioxide
- Limestone + Heat -> Lime + Carbon Dioxide
· USES OF LIME AND SLAKED LIME:
- Treating acidic soil
- Neutralising acidic industrial waste products (i.e. flue gas desulfurisation)
· USES OF CALCIUM CARBONATE:
- Iron: help removing acidic impurities from the iron by reacting with them to form molten slag.
- Cement: heat powdered limestone with clay, an ingredient in mortar and concrete
