PSY-101 WEEK 1 INTERACTIVITY Hypothesis: Reading to a child will result in a larger vocabulary. This hypothesis is a form of behaviorism psychology made popular by Ivan Pavlov, John Watson and B. F. Skinner. The medium or subject usage in the theories are different, but the principle idea of each theory is the same, behavior and response can be taught. In our text LeFrancois defines behaviorism as ” A general term for approaches to psychology concerned primarily with the observable components of behavior (such as stimuli and responses)” (2016, glos). The theory is split into a few different study focuses, but for this example I will use the observative facts only. Hypothetical Study: It is a continuing debate over the most important aspect of addiction to focus on initially. On one side there is a group of struggling addicts who can be identified as having psychological issues as the root cause. On the other side there is a group of suffering addicts, but these addicts do no identify as trauma users. This group identifies more with the type of environment and cognitive development of their surroundings or negative reinforcement. If these two individual groups are accurately portrayed in their assessments, then the group identifying as a product of their environment could benefit from behaviorism therapy and not psychiatry. A possible experiment to validate the information collected is to use behavior modification on every member of the study together as one group. Starting the experiment involves a set of rules and guidelines, exactly the same every day. The goal is to see change or validation of each individual that identifies with negativity versus psychiatry. As the days pass the individuals in need of other treatment psychologically, will not be able to continue the process. The others continue on their scheduled activities, building from positive reinforcement and repetitive reprogramming if you will. The results are similar to the military or waking up for work at the same time, every day. The process itself seems to happen, like waking up on time minutes before your alarm goes off. Conclusions are looking for a positive substitution or altered mentality of what a normal day consists of, mostly without direct thought.
