Psychological Testing PSY 475 Psychological Testing There are different ways to use measurements. Measurements explain the building parameters, the chemicals’ proportions in compounds & find out individual’s psychological stability. The set of measurements may be taken using instruments such as measuring tape, Geiger counters & tests. The application of psychological testing on mankind is an evaluation of mental stability of an individual & an indicator of treatments needed. Tests are classified into different types & each type collects a different set of data. The description of tests is cleared up in our paper & 4 psychological tests have been verified. According to Educational professionals, tests are the measures of the students’ capabilities in recalling & applying the past information accurately. This can be achieved by solving mathematical, essay or multiple choice questions. The teacher sets the marks for the test & the minimum score for passing. In the field of psychology, tests are designed & rated differently. Psychological tests include written tests, verbal tests, & visual tests for evaluation. The main areas of focus are emotional & cognitive working in kids & adults. Farlex defined mental abilities, personality, neurological operations, achievements & dysfunctions. The learning capability of the individuals decides the success of such tests. Learners are basically categorized into three types: audio, video & manipulators. The manner a test is organized has either a negative or a positive effect on the output & the manner the mental status of an individual is evaluated. An individual may prefer to take a visual test rather than the written test if he/she is prone to learning via video. The truth is that every human being has a chief means of learning; however, individuals can adapt & use the combination two or all the three ways to learn. As explained earlier, psychological tests are not only meant to evaluate the mental state of humans rather they offer also treatments when necessary. The Clinical interview is the first one. It is the basic part of psychological testing & is often called as intake interview. These interviews have the time frame between 1 to 2 hours & take place in a clinical layout. The psychological professionals get necessary family & background data about the clients via these clinical interviews. The clinical interview is not a worthless approach rather it is an organized study of the clients background. A psychological professional addresses various fields of client’s life via particular queries to understand client’s present condition. In present world, some components of these interviews are carried out via computers (Framingham 2011). It carries away from individualzed sense of two persons interacting. If the client needs additional tests, the psychological professional might determine them with this baseline data. The evaluation of Intellectual Functioning (Q) is the 2nd test. The Stanford-Binet test is one of the popular tests. IQ tests are often considered as placement & bragging tools. The IQ scores determine the intelligence level of an inividual. The words such as genius are often used in the academic world. In the world of psychology, the IQ score determines the intelligence as well as indicated the ability of an individual to take right decisions. Individuals with high IQ scores have high cognitive powers while individual with low IQ scores have low cognitive powers (Framingham 2011). A person’s state of mind is often examined specially in context of murder. The judge & jury wish to recognize whether the individual was competent to bear trial or not. No one wishes to sentence a person to financial punishment if their minds do not grant them the knowledge of the crime which was comitted. The assessment of personality is the 3rd test. The culmination of many years of external & internal influences on the life of a child is called as personality. The influences have positive & negative effects on shaping up the personality of the grownup & on his/her approach towards interacting with others. The tests employed to determine personality consist of the MCMI-III (Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-II) & MMPI-2 (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory).Evaluation has two categories: projective test & objective test (Framingham 2011). Objective tests offer solid evidence about the personality dysfunctions of an individual. The true-false questions & the quantitative measres are used as the tools. The approach of projective tests is a bit different & is more concerned aout subjectivity. The TAT (Thematic Apperception Test) & RIT (Rorschach Inkblot Test) are the two examples of projective tests. The individual sees at the pictures or inkblots & says to the pschological professional whatever is seen. This entirely depends on the interpretation of the individual’s mind & no standards are present to keep opposite to his/her answer. These kindsof tests along with the behavioral test are employed while hiring process. The business firms wish to foreclose high turnover rates & needs to recognize if the potential workers would be congregtion workers (Framingham 2011). The final test deals with the assessment of behavior. The bhavior of an individual is observed to find out the reason for the manifest of a particular behavior at some particular time. Some of the easiest ways for behavioral tests are in fact entertainingfor the client, maintaining a journal of his/her mood & making him/her to do an emotional invntory throughout the day. This inventory makes the client to note down his/her mood on an inventory sheet for emotions (Framingham 2011). Once the data is gathered the perfect course of examination is needed. At this stage, the psychological professional deal with validity & reliability. Validity is set according to the intension of testing. For instance, the perfect tool for testing radioactivity is the Geiger counter. A test may be neither, one of the two or both. However, the predecessor for the measurement of validity is reliability. The regularity in results is called as reliability. For personality testing, the TAT cannot be taken as a reliable testing tool rather it is a valid one. It does compute the individual’s personality but each individual will react or interpret differently to the pictures (Georgetown University). To determine the mental dysfunctions & mental capabilities of a client, psychological test is the most significant tool. Most of the times, it is essential to understand the behavioral features & personality of individuals. People, colleges & companies who wish a larger state of welfare might utilize these tests.
