 After Charlemagne conquered serval parts of Europe, his empire became too large to rule by
himself.

 Consequence: the system of feudalism
 One feudal lord divided his land into smaller parts
 His vassals loaned pieces of land to make a living , and even hire farmers and workers if
harvest were successful
