Pylori with antibiotics, medication to reduce acid = proton pump and H2 antagonist S/S: Epigastric pain, GI bleeding with no warning signs Pathophysiology: Injury to the mucosa of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum caused by action of acid and pepsin Pseudomembranous colitis Complications: Cause: Antibiotics use, Clostridium difficile (exposure to antibiotics) Treatment: Stop antibiotics (if possible), treat ischemia, oral antibiotics (metronidazole, vancomycin), and treatment of contributing conditions, fecal transplant tube in stomach and transfer stool from health person to unhealthy person, Colectomy S/S: Diarrhea (often bloody), abdominal pain, fever, leukocytosis, sepsis, colonic perforation(rare).
