Question 2
2.1. At this level, students are able to identify and list the characteristics of
geometric objects and forms.
At this level, learners will likely define a rectangle in this following way:
 The size of each angle is the same. (At this level, it is safe to assume that
learners do not comprehend terminology like right angles or
perpendicular lines that form right angles in this level.)
 Opposite side run in the same direction, they will never meet and they
are the same distance apart.
 The length of the two opposing sides is the same and they run in the
same direction. (At this level, students struggle to understand concepts
like parallel).
 Equal lines connect the corners on either side. (They do not
comprehend concepts like diagonals bisecting one another.)

2.2. At this level, students are familiar with the different distinct characteristics
of geometric shapes and objects and may now concentrate on the connections
between these characteristics.
At this level, learners will likely define a rectangle as follows:
 The diagonals of a rectangle bisect each other at 90°.
 There are four right angles in the rectangle.
 The length of the two opposing sides is equal, and they run parallel to
one another.
 An object is a rectangle or a square if it has four equal angles. However,
if an item has only two equal sides, it is unquestionably a rectangle.
