Highway Design Engineering Assignment

An interstate is running through a relatively unpopulated area where a great deal of development is planned in conjunction with the relocation of a major employer to the area. As part of this development, the alignment of a nearby state highway, whose design speed is 60 miles per hour, is being redrawn to run through it and under the interstate. The area is somewhat hilly, and can be considered as suburban after the development is completed. The highway is expected to carry a traffic load of approximately 20,000 vehicles per day when it opens, with about 40% of vehicles expected to want access to the interstate. Traffic will be split evenly in each direction, about 10% of the traffic will be truck traffic, and traffic overall will grow at about 2% per year over the expected 20-year life of the highway. The material from the NYSDOT Roadway Design Manual is preferred for design, but you can use the other materials if necessary.
