- Edna prepares to move into the ‘pigeon house’.
- Arobin shows interest in Edna.
Chapter 30
- Edna has dinner in celebration of her birthday.
- Edna invites her preference of people.
- Edna enjoys the dinner and company, however becomes exhausted.
Chapter 31
- Arobin helps her lock up.
- Arobin walks her home and kisses/caresses Edna whilst she is exhausted.
Chapter 32
- Mr Pontellier writes to Edna of his disapproval of her moving.
- Edna visits her children and weeps when seeing them.
Chapter 33
- Edna goes to visit Mme Reisz.
- Reisz isn’t home so Edna waits.
- Robert shows up and Edna is surprised of his return.
Chapter 34
- Robert walks Edna home and Edna questions him about Mexico.
- Robert stays for dinner until Arobin visits.
Chapter 35
- Edna responds to letters, however ignores Arobin’s note after Robert’s disapproval
of him.
- Edna works for several hours happily.
Chapter 36
- Edna visits a garden for coffee.
- Stumbles across Robert and questions his reasonings for not visiting her.
- Robert walks her home.
- Edna kisses Robert.
- Edna and Robert confess their love for each other.
- Edna leaves to visit Mm Ratignolle as she is sick, Robert begs her to stay with her.

- Edna visits Mm Ratignolle who is sick.
Chapter 38
- Edna talks with the doctor briefly.
- Edna thinks of Mm Ratignolle’s words ‘think of the children’.
- Edna comes home to a note from Robert saying goodbye / I love you.

- Edna visits victor and tells him she will come for dinner.
- Edna wants to go swim at the beach first.
