Choose the type of commercial recreation organization that is of most interest to you. For example, if you were to consider a job in commercial recreation it would be in what area? Use this project to help you learn about a possible career choice ii. Go to the library and do a search on that type of agency. Ask the Librarian for help. For example, look in SPORT Discuss as well as other Databases. iv. You may use a chapter from a book if the book is no older than 1997 v. Make sure to write the reference information down for each article to include in a reference page vi. If you find one article from a journal be sure to check the articles reference page for other articles that would help. vii. In your paper strive to answer three questions: 1. What is the status of the industry in the United States? a. For example: origin of industry, growth of industry, U.S. industry revenue or size, trade publications, professional organizations, U.S and/or Illinois participation levels, Career opportunities 2. What are the “keys to success” for a typical enterprise in this industry? a. For example: operational methods (seasonal and personnel), revenue sources, off-peak or off-season strategies, location strategies 3. What is your opinion of the future of this industry? a. For example: is the industry growing? Gaining or losing in popularity? Would it be a good industry to go into?
