 Jobs and Wozniak started working with early Apple computers in a garage
 Maybe the garage is a myth, but the entrepreneurial drive is solid and authentic
 Start-ups may require a method of their own but there are similarities between all persons that are
starting an enterprise

, Entrepreneurship is also about the process that someone have been through to create ther
innovation and idea: this process is very important!

 It is not only about monetary value, but also about social value!

Entrepreneurship is the identification, evaluation, and exploitation of opportunities




Who is an entrepreneur?

,  No commonly agreed definition: there could be multiple definitions, it depends on the type of
perspective you take



To understand this different perspectives:

 The Gartner study
- 90 definitions obtained from academics and business leaders
- conclusion: no real agreement!

Three types of definitions:




 managerial is of course about managing tasks! (for example running a business)

Economic functions:

 Combination of factors
 Providing market efficiency
 Accepting risk
 Maximizing investor’s returns
 Processing market information

The entrepreneur’s tasks:

 Owning the business
 Founding new organizations
 Bringing innovations to the markets
 Identifying opportunities
 Applying expertise
 Providing leadership

The entrepreneurial personality:

 The ‘great’ person
 The social misfit
 A personality type
 Possessor of personality types
 Social development models
