Be sure to: ● Be specific in describing the component line items of each ● Identify the individuals that would be involved in developing the budgets In order to gain competitive advantage, it is imperative that manufacturing companies create a plan for their business operations by creating an operating budget; an operating budget is a short-term budget (typically one year) that focuses on the daily operations of the organization (Heisinger, K., & Hoyle, J. B., n.d.). The operating master budget is broken down into its subcategories such as sales, production, direct materials purchases, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, and selling, general and administrative expenses.
