Ac. Can’t sleep thinking about Pat and drags Hector around a tomb- Apollo protects it
from disfigurement
The other gods pity Hector, but Athene, Hera and Poseidon remain hostile. Apollo pleads
Hector’s case. Zeus orders Thetis to tell Ac. He must return the body. He accepts
Zeus tells Iris to tell Priam that he must take gifts to Ac. And ransom Hector
Priam, after rounding on his sons, sets off with a bird omen from Zeus
Hermes in disguise accompanies Priam safely to the Greek camp
Priam supplicates Ac. And succeeds. They both weep and Ac. Compares Priam’s fate
with that of his father, Peleus
Priam’s gifts are unloaded, and Hector’s body is placed on the wagon. Ac. And Priam eat
together and by night Hermes secretly leads Priam away
Cassandra sees Priam. Andromache, Hecabe and Helen utter laments. Wood is
collected
Hector is cremated and buried, and a grave mound is set up. A funeral feast is held in
Priam’s palace- the funeral is set to last 12 days as Ac. Promised
