S/S
The back of the throat and palatine tonsils are usually
markedly erythematous (bright red)
the tonsils are enlarged
white exudate in the tonsillar crypts.
Petechiae may be present on the palate.
fever, sore throat, headache, stomachache, and difficulty
swallowing.
sandpaper-like rash (scarlatiniform rash) on the body.
Risks
Age 5-15 years.

What are post-tonsillectomy nursing cares?
hydration with Flat pop (carbonation can irritate),
Frequent ice chips since they are also soothing, apple
juice, popsicles.
