Please type your answers below each question.1.Read Philippians 2:5-8 and briefly describe the direction Jesus’ life took.Philippians 2:5-8 is one of the most important sections in the New Testament because it reveals in one short passage that Jesus is not a man and he is not God, rather he is both. Even though Jesus was in nature God, he did not consider his equality with God something to be used to his own advantage. 2.Read John 1:1-3. What other familiar passage in Scripture does this remind you of?The "In the beginning" part reminds me of Genesis 1 because Jesus was with God in the beginning and all things were made through him. It also reminds me of the how Genesis says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.” Through this scripture, the words become reality and reality are what the words depict. 3.In what ways does the textbook say that Jesus is similar to Moses and David?Jesus was a great leader and deliverer, like Moses and David. They wanted him to be like Moses because Moses led them out of their turmoil. They wanted him to be like David as well because he was a king and able to conquer. 4.Briefly summarize the Parable of the Sower from Mark 4. It refers to focusing on Christ and not the things of this world. The things of this world will not satisfy you but Christ will for he can guide and repent you. A farmer sows seed in a field, seeds fall and birds eat it. Some seed falls where there are rocks, and not much soil. Plants grow quickly, but soon the sun dries them. There is not enough soil, and the plants die. Some seed begins to grow in a place where there are too many weeds. The weeds stop the growth of the plants, and the plants die. But other seed falls on good ground. So, the plants grow well. The farmer has a harvest from these plants. The farmer is Jesus and the seed is a metaphor for good news, while places references the different people, and the different results in the different people. 5.Briefly list the three temptations of Jesus from Matthew 4.1. Stones become bread.2. Throw yourself down, and the angels will catch you.3. Bow down and worship me and I’ll give you all of the land and kingdoms. 6.How is Jesus described in 1 Corinthians 1:24 and John 1:1?In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. In the lecture, Jesus is described as fully God and fully man; now briefly describe the Trinity and Jesus’position in the Trinity.7.Briefly describe the kingdom of God as taught in the textbook. The textbook describes it that hope for peace clearly meant the new Kingdom of God would be superior to the old kindom in which the reign of kings, such as David and Solomon, was characterized by war and conflict. The peace of this new kindgdom would also mean justice for the poor and oppressed. The reign of God over God's people and God's creation. God 2
