Week 3 Concepts CABG • Restore vascularization of the myocardium ▪ Usually by saphenous vein, radial artery or synthetic graft • DC diuretics 2-3 days before surgery • ASA or other anticoagulants 1 week before surgery • Move side to side 2 hours following extubation • Sit in a chair with in 24 hours • Ambulate 25-100 feet 3x a day by 1st post op day • Pt will have ▪ 1 or 2 chest tubes • Drainage should not exceed 150 mL/hr ▪ Foley ▪ IV fluid cath ▪ Endotracheal intubation Cardiogenic Shock • Following injury or MI >40% left ventricle o Manifestations ▪ Tachycardia ▪ Hypotension ▪ ALOC ▪ Respiratory distress/crackles ▪ Cool and clammy ▪ Chest pain ▪ peripheral pulses o Interventions ▪ preload • Oxygen • Morphine • Diuretics • Nitro ▪
