Originally, Neuton & Neuton Retail requested 7 computers. In my solution, I
planned for 7 computers with 8GB of RAM and 1GB of storage. I chose 8GB of
RAM for the computers because they will be running database software, antivirus
software and a browser which aren’t resource intensive. This will help reduce the
cost of the computers, as any more RAM is overkill for the tasks they’re going to
be doing. I chose 1GB of storage for the computers to have because the
computers won’t store much or any data on them. All the data that is inputted or
collected will be sent to the remote server and stored there.
Neuton & Neuton Retail didn’t specify a database software they were going to
use. In my solution, I planned to use Office 365. I chose Office 365 because it
comes with lots of other programs the organisation can offer their staff so they
can communicate more efficiently. The data base software, Access, will deliver
the needs of Neuton & Neuton Retail because they will be able to store customer
information for future reference.
Neuton & Neuton Retail didn’t say what operating system they wanted. In my
solution, I suggested Windows 10 as the computers operation system. This is
because Windows 10 is still being updated which keeps the computers more
secure. Also, it will allow programs that are developed in the future to be
compatible with the system, making it future proof to an extent. The final reason
Windows 10 should be used for the computers is people are familiar with it. It is
very similar to Windows 7 which people have been using for years. All the
training Neuton & Neuton Retail will have to do is refreshing the staffs mind on
how to operate it.
Overall, my solution delivers the needs of the organisation because they have
computers they can work from, a remote server they can sends data too,
software to protect the computers from malware, software to log data and CCTV
to keep the goods safe.
