The Health and Safety Executive is a UK agency who are liable for the regulation and enforcement of workplace health, safety and welfare
as well as for research into occupational risks in Britain. Their goal is to refrain work related death, injury and ill health and work alongside
the government to ensure this does not occur.
How do they achieve this?
They achieve helping people to manage risk and influencing change in the workplace through various ways such as:
● Giving information, advice and guidance
● Carrying out investigations and inspections
● Creating awareness and influencing change in the workplace
● Taking action to refrain harm or risks from occurring and making sure law breakers are held accountable.
What are SOPs and what do they do? Figure 2
SOPs also known as safe operating procedure ensure all non-ionising procedures are performed in the safest way possible in order to
protect the operator and patients. Before any diagnosis or treatment can happen medical staff must adhere to the rules (mri, medical
lasers, infrared thermographic cameras, ultrasound).
- Have the relevant medical qualifications
- Look at the identity and medical details of patient before examination
- Make a plan of work for the procedure which your going to carry out by using medical guidelines.
- Make sure you have detailed knowledge of the equipment as well as understanding.
