Self-Evaluation: Digital Clinical Experience: Delegation
What was the most challenging part of delegation in this scenario?
The most challenging part of delegating in this scenario is knowing all the scope of practice that everyone falls
under. For example, I had to look up everyone’s title and what it means and what they are qualified to do. It also it
does not help that the title can be different between states.
What do you think went well during this simulation?
I think what went well for me during this simulation is how to respond to questions that I was asked or questions
that I am asking the other nurses in find out information about the patients or finding out what the other nurses did
or did not do correctly so that problems can be resolved to improve the patient’s care/health.
What are your strengths as a communicator?
As a communicator my strengths are that I listen to what is being said or expressed and give back good advice,
support and encouragement. But at the same time, I know my weakness as a communicator is that I can speak bluntly
at times / not sugar coat my words that can be taken the wrong way.
If you repeated the scenario, what would you do differently next time?
If I have repeated the scenario the thing I would do differently next time is prioritizing which patient get care
first. I noticed that every time the program asked me who should I help first I always got it wrong and sometimes
wrong on the second try also. Honestly, I think in part is not being familiar with the program because in real life at
work I have no trouble in prioritizing patient care.
How did this assignment affect your development toward proficiency with leadership concepts in a
hospital setting?
This assignment affects my development toward proficiency with leadership concepts in a hospital setting by
showing me examples of how to respond to my coworkers in a professional way. The options of responses that the
program gave me is not how I would have worded my answers. Don’t get me wrong I would not insult my coworkers
or anything like that and would always offer help and support but at the same time I would not have been as nice with
my response.
