ANS: The main cause of iron deficiency anemia is a lower than normal concentration of hemoglobin or number of red blood cells, which results in reduced capacity of the blood to carry oxygen. Commonly observed during menstruation or pregnancy 2. List and describe the main symptoms of the disease. The main symptoms of Iron deficiency anemia are: ANS: ● Extreme fatigue-feeling cranky, difficulty concentrating, or poor productivity at work is a sign of iron deficiency. ● Headache, dizziness, or lightheadedness- In iron deficiency, lower levels of hemoglobin in red blood cells mean that not enough oxygen can reach the brain causing headaches, dizziness, or lightness. ● Cold hands and feet- Blood cells that don't have enough oxygen get stuck in blood vessels, slowing down circulation, which leads to cold hands and feet.
