This document is a detailed report of the creation of a data model that will record and
display the COVID 19 infections rates across the United Kingdom. I will be working alongside
SCI-TECH who has recruited me in investing the different methods on how COVID 19
infection rates can be monitored or controlled. The model I will be creating will
predominantly focus on the NHS department as I will be collaborating with them when
creating my model. The data model that I will create will record and store the data that will
be needed to help with the current pandemic. This data model will also help the current UK
economy as COVID-19 has spread into many areas and sectors of the UK.
In my report I will explain the decision making process and other things such as alternatives,
evaluating models, being able to provide documentation and justifications of the
documentation. The main target of this data model is to reduce corona cases and make sure
that people are aware of areas that may contain people who are positive or are in high risk.
Understanding the scenario:
The scenario is set around the current pandemic of COIVID-19 which has affected millions of
people and will need a data model/app to see if they have covid-19.The data model will
make it so if someone nearby in the area has it they will be able to know straight away or to
see if someone nearby has it. Also the sectors that have been affected by the pandemic and
will need to recover so that the economy stays stable
What I will be doing
I am going to create a data model on excel which records and stores the data of the people
that have taken the test. Also the data model will record the location of the person if they
test positive which then people can see where people that test positive are and this will also
say how many cases are in the area and if its a low, medium, high or very high risk. This will
help people be aware if the area they are in is high, medium or low which will also help to
recover the economy.
Identifying information and sources:
The information required
The information required for the data model are things like location, age, full name, gender
and how long it has been since they got tested positive which is provided by the people who
will use the model. This information is required as it will be needed for the purpose of the
, data model and also this will help as the data will be more accurate and the data model will
be used better for people to use. Also if the data is more accurate and reliable it will be
easier to make conclusions from the data model which can help the people who will then
make reports which will be based on the data model.
Information that is already available
The information that is already available is information on the government and NHS website
and the data is very reliable as it is from the official government website and shows the
corona cases of the UK and also how many deaths from corona there've been everyday and
daily cases and also worldwide deaths and cases. The website of where this information is
from: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinationsinf
Additional information that may be needed
Additional information that might be needed is things like symptoms of coronavirus and
temperatures of patients who have been tested positive for corona. Also other additional
information that may be required is the amount of deaths that have been recorded as this
will help to keep track as time goes on and to see if any improvement has been made. The
sources for the additional information will also be from the government website as the
website contains the amount of deaths each day.
Requirements for Verifying sources
The requirements for verifying the sources is that the government and official websites are
very reliable and show daily updates on the coronavirus cases and deaths and the
information is provided by the government so there will not be a need to verify it as it is
from the government. Also news websites such as sky news also have daily updates on the
current pandemic but it may not always be 100% reliable so to verify this information it will
mainly be found on the nhs website or government website.
Factors affecting the quality of information:
Some factors which may affect the quality of information are date and time. This may affect
the quality of information because if the data isn't recorded most of the time the results
from the information may be wrong as the time and date recorded may not be accurate if
missed.
