1. Basic Geometry Terms
A point represents an exact location. A line extends forever in both directions.
A ray starts at one endpoint and extends forever in one direction. A line segment has two endpoints.
An angle is formed by two rays that share a common endpoint called the vertex.
2. Types of Angles
Acute: greater than 0° and less than 90°.
Right: exactly 90°.
Obtuse: greater than 90° and less than 180°.
Straight: exactly 180°.
Reflex: greater than 180° and less than 360°.
3. Angle Relationships
Complementary angles add to 90°.
Supplementary angles add to 180°.
Vertical angles are opposite angles formed by intersecting lines and are congruent.
Linear pair: adjacent angles whose non-common sides form a straight line; their measures add to 180°.
4. Parallel Lines and Transversals
When a transversal crosses two parallel lines, angle relationships can help find unknown measures.
Corresponding angles are congruent when the lines are parallel.
