◉ Psychoanalytic Perspective.
Answer: Developed by Sigmund Freud. Consists of 3 levels of
awareness. Disordered personality due to constant anxiety &
conflict. Ego uses unconscious defense mechanisms to manage these
problems


◉ Divisions of the MIND.
Answer: Preconscious = memories, info, and events.
Conscious = current awareness.
Unconscious = hidden, surfaces, symbolically


◉ Divisions of PERSONALITY.
Answer: Id = Completely unconscious; pleasure-seeking, amoral
(Sex, aggression, etc.)
Ego = mostly conscious; rational, logical, deals with reality ("If it
feels good, do it, but only if you can get away with it")
Superego = mostly unconscious, moral center, contains conscience
(guilt)

from job on spouse at home later)


◉ Reaction Formation.

◉ Psychosexual Stages.

= weaning. Fixation = overeating, binge drinking, nail biting, too
dependent & optimistic, aggressive & pessimistic


◉ Anal Stage (18-36 months).
Answer: 2nd psychosexual stage - erogenous zone = anus. Pleasure
from holding & releasing feces. Conflict = toilet training. Fixation =
anal expulsive personality (messy, destructive, hostile), Anal
retentive personality (stingy, stubborn, neat)


◉ Phallic Stage (3-6 years).
Answer: 3rd psychosexual stage - erogenous zone = genitals. Conflict
= sexual awakening. Fixation = immature sexual attitudes,
promiscuous and vanity, "mama's boy" or "daddy issues"
